J.D. Power and Associates 2002 Major Provider Business Telecommunications
Services Study(SM) is based on responses from more than 3,000 U.S. businesses,
from very small (with at least two employees) to very large (500+ employees),
and evaluates their data and voice services providers. The seven major
providers (AT&T, BellSouth, MCI/Worldcom, Qwest, SBC, Sprint and Verizon)
included in the study comprise more than 50 percent of the total domestic
market share for business telecommunications services.
"It is with great pride that Sprint employees serve the total
communication needs of our customers, providing them with reliable solutions,
as well as high-quality service, and now Sprint is recognized in this year's
J.D. Power and Associates study results," said Ron LeMay, president and chief
operating officer, Sprint. "We will continue to make customer satisfaction an
integral component of our data, wireline and wireless services."
In the high-end data segment, Sprint ranked highest in all seven factors
that determine an overall score including billing, company image, cost of
service, customer service, offerings and promotions, performance and
reliability, and sales representatives/account executives. Company image and
performance and reliability were among the top concerns to businesses in this
segment. The high-end data segment includes frame relay, ATM and other
packet/cell technologies.
In the long distance telephone segment, Sprint took highest honors for
customer satisfaction among the seven major providers included in the study.
The factors comprising overall satisfaction include: performance and
reliability; image; sales representatives and account executives; cost of
service; billing; offerings and promotions; and customer service.
Dave Power, chairman and chief executive officer of J.D. Power and
Associates, will be at the Sprint World Headquarters Campus in Overland Park,
Kan., today to present Sprint with both awards.
