Advisory Board Members Jeffrey Veen, Mimi Rosenheim, Michael Sippey
And Molly Holzschlag to Share Industry Vision and Insight
SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- WEB2000, the conference designed by
Web professionals for Web professionals, will host plenary sessions focusing
on the key issue facing the Web industry: the critical need to integrate
technology with business strategy. Industry veterans will attempt to predict
the future of business on the Web and help Web professionals prepare for the
industry changes to come. Advisory board members will lead the interactive
plenary sessions which include: "Realizing Our Future," "Beyond the Hype:
The Reality of Vision," and "Interdisciplinary Teams." The WEB2000
International Conference & Exposition will be held at the Moscone Center,
October 30 - November 3, 2000.
The panel for "Realizing Our Future" will include Thomas P. Hughes, Ph.D.,
America's foremost historian of technology and author of "Rescuing Prometheus:
Technology that Changed our World," and his son, Lucian Hughes, Ph.D.,
research director of Andersen Consulting's Center for Strategic Technology
Research (CSTaR). Together, they will offer their insight into the role of
new and emerging technologies in shaping business strategy. Led by
Jeffrey Veen, executive interface director of Wired Digital, and
Mimi Rosenheim, launch strategist of Catapulse, this conversation will discuss
the smart application of technology in the business environment.
"The leaders of our plenary sessions will examine the roots of technology
and its practical application to business strategy," said Bridget Hart, show
director. "Through personal experience and interactive sessions, the audience
will walk away with a broader understanding of the realistic potential of
technology, given the industry's recent upheaval."
Molly Holzschlag, executive editor of Web Review, and Michael Sippey, vice
president of product management at Quris, will host "Beyond the Hype: The
Reality of Vision." This interactive session will debate the question: "Is
society prepared to handle what's on the horizon?" BJ Fogg, Ph.D., director
of Stanford's Persuasive Technology Lab and CASIO Research, will be a
panelist. The discussion will explore the business relevance of future
technologies, as well as associated ethical and social implications.
For a discussion of the unique nature of technological collaboration and
the cross-disciplinary creative process, Marney Morris, founder of Animatrix,
and Gary Booch, CTO of Catapulse, will lead "Interdisciplinary Teams:
Modeling Language Meets Design Language." Advisory Board members Marc Rettig,
of HannaHodge, Inc., and Eric Lunt, of Spyonit.com, will moderate the session.
The session will stress the importance of the Web team working as a cohesive
unit to develop an online presence that achieves overall business goals.
